Dronley Woods

About Dronley Woods
and Garry Stewart

Dronley Woods was purchased by the community in 2019. Today it is managed as a multi-purpose woodland, where biodiversity, education, and timber production are equal priorities.

Continuous Cover Forestry

Dronley Woods is managed under continuous cover forestry principles. This means that the woodland is never completely cleared, allowing us to maintain a diverse range of habitats and species, while also producing high-quality timber.

Community Involvement

The management of Dronley Woods involves the local community and schools in various ways. We want the community to take ownership of Dronley Wood and develop the woodland to benefit future generations and to rekindle a woodland culture that existed a long time ago. We offer training, research, cooperation, education, and local employment opportunities.
